Chiropractic Care

David Newton, DC, MS, CSCS

Dr. Newton is thrilled to begin a new chapter of his life with Active Performance Chiropractic. Having grown up as an athlete, Dr. Newton understands the hard work and dedication it takes to lead a and and active lifestyle. Unfortunately, injuries often come with activity and this is where Dr. Newton steps in.  As a neuromusculoskeletal specialist, Dr. Newton is able to evaluate the injury and determine the appropriate treatment plan to ensure an optimal recovery.  Dr. Newton's treatment often focuses on the importance of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia) in addition to the spine and other joints of the body.  Having also received his Master's degree in Sports and Exercise Science in addition to his Certified Strength and Conditioning Certification, Dr. Newton truly understands the injuries athletes of all levels deal with on a daily basis.

Devyn Christian, DC, BS, CSCS.

Dr. Devyn comes to Active Performance Chiropractic from Chicago, where she completed her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. Originally from Minneapolis, she played competitive soccer all her life and has had her own fair share of injuries.  Dr. Devyn found Chiropractic after being a personal trainer for years and she uses this knowledge of the human body and the ability to spot faulty movement patterns to not only treat current pain but to also help to prevent future injury. She has completed extra training in the area of sports medicine and uses her passion for exercise and health to get patients back to doing what they love.  In addition to chiropractic Dr. Devyn is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and can help you transition from an injury to optimal performance.

Through the years, I have had a passion for movement - watching athletes as they fine tune their craft and recover from injury; observing my children attempt to stand, over and over;  listening to a dad that plays softball but continues to injure himself on one side of his body; training a mom that wants to run with her kids for life, but has a nagging back problem from the computer sitting epidemic at work… and on and on and on.

We all have a desire to move, play and function independently. It is just a matter on how to achieve that goal efficiently. We need to develop good patterns and learn to manage.  The difficulty is when injuries occur.  Our body develops new patterns to protect around the injury. How can I help?  I use a variety of techniques from hands-on therapy, dry-needling, Pilates and various other functional movement training tactics to reestablish solid patterns. Each session is individualized according to a your needs and goals.
